DARK CHOCOLATE (63% COCOA MIN) - COCOA NIBS & SEA SALT 75g

The crunch of the nibs (crushed cocoa beans) brings a rustic and robust touch that goes perfectly with the tangy freshness and notes of red fruits of the chocolate. The hint of fleur de sel enriches and prolongs this experience, creating a pleasant sensation and reinforcing the subtle acidity of the cocoa beans.

The image corresponds to the portrait of a Tanala woman ("Those who live in the forest"). The Tanala people live in the forest region located in the south-east of the island. This group derives almost all of its resources from the forest. Hunting, the collection of plants (from which they make their headdress) and wild honey, but also the felling of wood, the traditional cultivation of rice on "tavy" (land deforested by fire) and the cultivation of coffee are the main occupations of this forest population.

Menakao – Tablets reflecting Madagascar

At the heart of Menakao chocolates, there are women and men!

It is therefore quite natural that we wanted to illustrate our tablets by highlighting the faces of the different ethnic groups that represent the Malagasy people. The Tanala, the Betsimisaraka, the Mahafaly, the Antanosy, the Bara or the Merina, all represented in their traditional headdresses and clothes.

A tribute and a desire to make discover a country with multiple cultures which make the richness of Madagascar; also a wink from Shahin Cassam Chenaï, founder of Menakao, who wanted to recall four generations later the first commercial activities of the family: arriving at the beginning of the 19th century, it began in the sale of postcards.

A fine cocoa

Due to a cocoa classified among the best in the world and labeled "Fine Cocoa" by the International Cocoa Organization since January 2016, Malagasy chocolate is appreciated for its floral notes, its hint of acidity and its slight astringency on the finish.

MENA mean red in Malagasy

Red like the color of the earth, rich in minerals and sediments deposited by the Sambirano river, red like the color of the pods that come from the best producers in the Sambirano valley, red like the color of our chocolate, finally Mena like the island Red: Madagascar.
